SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – 5/10 km PT 347 (rated 2B): Meet at Matheson Lake, Matheson Lake Park Road parking lot, Sooke V9C 4G9. Registration starts at 9:30 am and closes at 9:55 am. The walk starts at 10:00 am. Contact is Sandy at 250-812 0303. The 5km route (rated 2B) takes walkers through the magnificent forest around Matheson Lake. The 10km route (rated 2C) takes walkers through the forest to Pearson College where the Gray Whale Skeleton can be viewed, accompanied by an in-depth article on the whale itself and how it was brought back to the college by students. Along the way we visit a hidden waterfall and stop at the top by the observatory. A hiking pole is highly recommended. Proper footwear is mandatory.
