SATURDAY, AUGUST 24 – Mount Doug Event Walk 5/7/10 km: Meet at the Mount Doug Park parking lot, off Cordova Bay Road, just north of the junction with Ash Road, Saanich V8N 4Y9. Registration starts at 9:30 am and closes at 9:55 am. The walk starts at 10:00 am. Contact is Ada at 778-922-1950. There are three routes to choose from. The 7 km and 10 km routes are both rated 3C and are fairly strenuous and use some rough trails. Poles are recommended. Expect the 10 km route to take 2 1/2 hours or more. The 7 km route could take 2 hours. The 5 km route is rated 2B and has smoother trails with no significant hills. The 5 and 7 km walks are almost all on trails within the park while the 10 km also includes 2 km on quiet roads. None of the routes climb to the top of Mount Doug. Note that the 7 and 10 km routes pass small farm stands so you might find fruit or veggies. This is an Event Walk. Walk fee is $2.
