SATURDAY, APRIL 12 – Cobble Hill, Quarry Nature Park 5/7/10 km Walk (rated 2B/2C/3C): The walks start from the Quarry Nature Park, 3500 Empress Ave, Cobble Hill, V0R 1L5. Directions: Follow the Trans Canada Highway (Highway 1) to Mill Bay. Continue on the highway for another 4.5 km and then turn left onto Hutchinson Road. Follow Hutchinson for almost 2 km to Cobble Hill Road. Cross Cobble Hill Road and continue straight ahead. You are now on Empress Avenue. Cross the railway tracks and after about 100 metres turn right into Quarry Nature Park. Parking and washrooms are available. Registration will be about 100 metres from the road. Registration opens at 9:30 am and closes at 9:55 am. Walk starts at 10:00 am. Contact is David at 250-598-4316.
Three routes are available. Spring flowers and orchids may be visible on all routes. The 10 km route visits several trails and a lovely viewpoint on its way up to the summit of Cobble Hill where there are a couple more viewpoints before returning to the start point. The 7 km route takes a slightly easier route up to the summit and misses the first viewpoint. The 5 km route first follows a couple of trails on the lower levels of Cobble Hill and then explores the pretty little village of Cobble Hill. Lunch after the walk at the Cobblestone Inn in Cobble Hill.
