“Who knew a Camino Pilgrimage would lead to a Self-Published Novel, a TV Series, and next an Audible?”

SAANICH, BC – Prepare to be inspired as local author Maria takes you on a journey through the power of storytelling at “Empowered by Stories: Using the Gems of Your Heritage to Create a Fresh Start [Book Signing & Fundraising Event].”

This special event, hosted at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 1 PM, will explore how our ancestral stories can help us navigate modern challenges and create new beginnings.

Maria’s own transformative journey began in 2019 when she went on a pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. This life-changing, solo-backpacking experience fueled her creativity, resulting in the self-publication of her novel “Closer to Indigo” in 2022. Maria didn’t stop there; she expanded her storytelling to the screen with the TV series “Saanich: Emerging Land; Emerging People,” based on scenes from her book. Now, she is bringing her evocative narrative to an even wider audience with an Audible version of her story.

To make this project a reality, she has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign: “Help Bring ‘Closer to Indigo’ to Life on Audible. Your Support Needed for Pro Recording & Editing Fees of my Audiobook, Narrated by Me, the Author.”

Recording an audiobook is an exciting yet costly endeavor. This campaign seeks to cover the professional recording and editing fees, ensuring that Maria’s voice can continue to inspire and uplift.

This in-person book signing and fundraising event will include a talk by Maria, a viewing of episode 8, “Sunflowers and Dragonflies,” from her TV series, followed by a Q&A session and a book signing of “Closer to Indigo” that will be available for purchase for anyone interested.

Join us for an afternoon of inspiration and community. Here’s your chance to connect with and support an author who beautifully weaves the past and present into stories that empower and elevate.
