CNIB Guide Dogs needs volunteers to help raise puppies that will become future guide dogs for people who are blind.
With support from CNIB Guide Dogs staff, puppy raisers and boarders care for a pup in their first year of life and start them on their journey to becoming a guide dog. They provide a safe and loving home and help socialize and introduce a pup to the world around them.
“I truly believe in what I’m doing, and I love every moment of it. I feel like a tourist in my own city because of the socializing I’m doing with the puppies. I’m meeting so many incredible people, having great conversations with so many strangers, and exploring new places in the city.” – Volunteer puppy raiser.
This rewarding volunteer experience is filled with unconditional love and changes many lives – including yours!
Guide dogs are partners in mobility and independence for people who are blind and can open up the world in a profoundly different way. But before these dogs can embark on their life-changing roles as guide dogs, they require months of socialization, exposure to new environments, and basic obedience. Puppy raisers and boarders are instrumental in this process, nurturing and preparing these young pups for their future roles as guide dogs.
Help change the life of someone who is blind by raising a future guide dog for CNIB Guide Dogs.
Previous experience with dogs is not required, and CNIB Guide Dogs covers the costs of all veterinary care, equipment, and dog food.
