Canada’s top designers weigh in on questions from mature women about how to dress, what to wear, what to avoid and how to look their very best.
Each month, we’ll tackle a new question to help you stay stylish and feel great!
Q: What’s the most common fashion mistake you see among older women?
Simon Chang: “Dressing in poorly fitted clothing from trendy junior boutiques will project the look of the young and restless. Don’t do it!” simonchang.com
Jan Stimpson: “We see a lot of older women dressing within “guidelines or rules” – an idea that their age and size defines them. At Sympli, we constantly challenge ourselves to change this perception by encouraging every woman – regardless of age, shape or size – to find comfort within their style, and embrace their free spirit and natural beauty.” symplithebest.com
Peter Nygard: “The biggest mistake is that women don’t buy clothes that make them look slimmer. Horizontal stripes in the wrong places; or light colours around the hips, which make them appear wider. Stripes and patterns should highlight the shoulders and face, drawing the eye upwards.” nygard.com
